Flight Number: SQ223
Aircraft: A350-900MH
Singapore Changi - Perth

Ticket Purchase / Redemption

I paid 40,500 KrisFlyer miles + SGD87.20 for the redemption booking on Singapore Airlines. This redemption was made in 2022 when Little D was less than 2 years old. There is currently no way for one to make a redemption booking for an infant online or via the SQ app. The only way is to call their hotline or visit their customer service at ION Orchard to manually add an infant seat. The cost of the infant seat is 10% of the then adult business price ticket. In the end I paid approx $150 for Little D.

4 daily flights from Bangkok to Singapore on either the B787 or A350 regional (no difference to the business seat type - 2018RJ)

Check In

Check ins at Singapore Changi for Singapore Airlines are either at Terminal 2 or Terminal 3. In this case this was at Terminal 3.

Economy check in are at Rows 3 & 4 but for Business passengers, you can proceed straight to the less crowded Row 6 (T3).

Lounge

After passing immigration, head left and soon you will find the SilverKris lounge one escalator ride up, for business class passengers.

The lounge is huge with 4 large sections. My favourite section would be right at the end just beside the sleeping pods where you get views of the SQ planes.

There are about 7-8 round tables along this stretch of sofa and perfect (distraction) for kids who can watch the planes arrive / leave the gates on the sofa, or have them in baby high chairs directly facing them.

I won't be writing a review on food and drinks because those are readily available on any other travel blog online.

Stay tuned while I update reviews on the nursing room in the SilverKris Lounge.

Seats

All 4 flights to Perth have the same business class configuration (2018-RJ) whether it is on the B787 or A350MH.

The seats are in 1-2-1 configuration but middle seats in the rows 11, 14, 16, 18, 19, 21 are "couple" seats where you get to be just beside (but not directly accessible to their seat). There is a divider in the middle that can be pulled down (not all the way).

Flight Experience

Bassinet Call Out: The only infant seats are in 19A and 19K but uniquely the bassinet is not in front of you but diagonally in front on the side. When not in used, it becomes somewhat a pretty huge storage space. It also served as a good seating area for little D while i frantically try to feed him his kids meal.

Mummy sat at 19F and I took 19K. Doing so allowed us to swap around easily without having to walk a big round via the galley.

Food wise we chose to Book the Cook! This has to be done at least 24 hours before your flight and via "Manage Booking" on the website or SQ app.

We had the Lobster Thermidor and the Grain Fed Black Angus Beef Tenderloin

For me, one of the most notable difference was the crew attentiveness to us and Little D. From the moment we got onto our seats, the crew came over with the SQ bear, asked for Little D's name and an infant seat belt.

They also staggered mine and Mummy's meal times so that we can settle Little D's lunch first, which was probably the toughest part of the flight.

Summing Up

A great first experience for Little D's first flight. Lounge was great. Seats were great. Crew were great. Food was great. Only thing missing was amenity kits which were only available on flights > 6 hours. Next up - trying the A380 2017J seats!
